Questions???

Right now I am trying to work up some courage to set a new testing date. I log on to Pearson Vue as if I am going to pay my $200 again but then wind up wimping out. Why?

I am just not sure which date I am striving for. March? June? The test is expensive which means flying somewhere. There is so much riding on this test and I need to be smart about this.

Will I be ready in one month's time to take this test? This is a time that I will have available to fly out. Or, should I just keep sputtering along and wait to take it in June? That is another time when I will be free to take it. Questions, questions, questions.

Whatever you do, don't think it was because you lacked the knowledge. My study partner all the way through nursing school probably knew more than me and is a much better nurse, and failed it twice. The second time he suffered through all 265, and still failed. Yet he kept on keeping on and passed the third time at 140. He is now a fantastic nurse, probably because of the additional questions he did.

Contrary to your friends advice, I would jump back on studying harder than ever. Also, make sure you are not just memorizing facts, but really grasp them, and know priorities. i.e. don't focus so hard on knowing all the signs and symptoms of a disease but which are the most common, first presenting, and the most serious. NCLEX tests your abilitiy to prioritize on every question. For example, what would concern you more for an acute asthma patient, increased wheezing, decreased wheezing, increased hr, or decreased hr. Well ABCs says breathing first, and decreased wheezing says our patient is fatiguing so that is the answer they are looking for.

Check out my nclex review blog at www.easynclex.blogspot.com whenever you can, and if you want, leave a comment with your email and I can send you a copy of my review presentation powerpoints that I use at my school. Good luck! chad

Hi everyone,
My name is Maryann and I have just taken my nclex exam and failed, I can't tell you how very upset I am after all that I have studied. I have attended nursing school late in life because of having to care for my father who has passed away. I placed my nursing education on hold 2 times and finally I was able to attend college and further my education.
I recently graduated with a 4.0 and was so nervous about taking the exam. My college at this time doesnt have a good passing rate and I feel that all that I have learned I have truely taught myself. I am in a position now that not only do I have a 35,000 loan to have to repay back I can't even work as a nurse graduate. I can't tell you how many hrs and how much I truely prayed and had faith that I would pass on the first try.. I feel as if I let not only myself down but my family and all those who had much faith in me. I gather that I am not prepareing the proper way. I can't tell you how many nclex books test questions I have done including an online review .. I still have yet to pass. I will be taking it again but not sure as to when. I wish all those who have not yet passed the best. I reside in the state of florida which makes it so hard because after the 3rd time you must take a remidial course which I dont have the funds for so that would acutually, be it for my nursing future. I would truely hope that maybe someone reading this would help me and guide me as too what they think would help me. I am at a complete lost and have no idea what to do any longer I am so desperate ...please some one help!!! I would gladely except any one 's advise other then give it up and do what ever it takes to pass. I believe that I truely will make a difference because there is no better enjoyment then helping those who are in needespecially when they fall ill. I want very much to have that opportunity to make a positive difference in the true nursing world. So with that being said I would love to hear from anyone with any type of advise and guidence ..Maybe I will have a chance to pass this time, anyway thanks for reading this long comment and for those who have passed with great difficulty as well as those who passed in general I applaud you all and remember when it comes to your dream never let anything stop you... Thanks again..

My question is about the acute asthma pt. and what is most concerning. My first thought was increased HR because if not receiving enough oxygen, thus struggling to breath, your HR will increase. I've taken the NCLEX 2 times, not passing. I've studied and studied, I know I'm doing something wrong just like my rationale for the acute asthma patient. Any help, suggestions or advice if greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly

re the SANE certification exam, look into making your hospital a testing site. You will need a few nurses who want to take the exam and usually the education dept hadles the testing /proctor aspect. Look into it! saves you time and $$$ Gloria
